Calendar Art Contest

Mackenzie Burgess Art WorkThe Electric Consumer sponsors the annual Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest.  The contest invites young artists from around the state to submit artwork reflective of the calendar month for which their grade level is assigned. For example, high school seniors submit artwork for the month of December.  Submissions are then judged and winners from each grade level selected. Those winners then represent that specific month in the annual Cooperative Calendar of Student Art. Nine honorable mention winners are also included in a special section of the calendar.

MacKenzie Burgess, an eighth grader from Owensville, has been named a winner in the 2012 Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest.  Burgess joins 21 other young hoosier artists who have been honored as part of the annual contest sponsored by Electric Consumer.  Her artwork, shown to the right, will illustrate the month of July in the 2012 calendar since she was a seventh grader when it was submitted.  The calendar will be available at our offices in October.  In addition to having their artwork featured in the calendar, her creation will be on display later this year as part of a sponsorship with the Hoosier Salon, a statewide nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to create an appreciation of visual art by promoting hoosier artists and their art. The salon has galleries in Indianapolis, New Harmony, and Wabash.
